What Tulsa's PC Doctor Can Do For You
We have developed a scanning
routine based on our long experience of cleaning virus infections
and testing of various virus software packages to guarantee that
your system is free of viruses. Depending on the number and type
of viruses found (once they have been eradicated) the process
of fixing the damage to your software begins. Often times, virus
infections will leave Windows and installed software damaged
and unusable. In many cases, simply reinstalling those packages
may repair the application, but if the damage is extensive, a
fresh install of Windows and other software may be required.
If a fresh install of Windows
is required, the best way to start is through re-formatting
the hard drive, completely removing all data files and programs.
This would be the only way to assure that additional viruses
are not hiding in Outlook Express mail or other places where
a standard file scan would miss them.
We understand the importance
of saving critical data and files on your system (especially
if it is not backed up). Therefore, the next option is
to perform a fresh install of Windows into a new folder. This
is only possible, however, if there is ample free space on your
hard drive. This
option is often preferred by our clients since all of your data
files, downloads, etc. are retained and left untouched! Once Windows and other applications
are reinstalled, all those files will be there waiting right
where you left them. The only drawback to performing a fresh
install of Windows is that any custom settings (such as networking
and email) and all software applications that you use must be
reinstalled in order for you to use them, and you must have all
of your setup disks (with corresponding licenses and serial numbers),
or be prepared to purchase new licenses.
If you suspect that your system is infected please call or
email
us for assistance and questions.
