Buyer Beware!
At Tulsa's PC Doctor, we are
trying to make an honest living doing something we enjoy. But
that's not always the case with other repair shops! We'd like
to warn you about some of the fraud that's going on in the PC
market place; here are some tips to help you avoid "scam
artists".
- Check the background - Most
businesses or individuals that aren't trying to rip you off will
be glad to provide references. Deal with reputable, degreed/certified
(or experienced) personnel only. This
may not seem to be a big deal, but we know of many PC repair
shops that are more than willing to replace your mother board,
or reformat your hard drive at the first sign of trouble. This
costs the customer hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.
- Know your computer -
One common scam is to take your parts! It's hard to believe, but some computer
"chop-shops" will actually take more valuable pieces
out of your machine, and replace them with cheap ones. Many
times the unsuspecting customer never knows it happened! At
Tulsa's PC Doctor we take pride in explaining the details to
you, and we do it in your home or business, so that your computer
never disappears behind closed doors.
- Get a second opinion - We're all human, so we occasionally
make mistakes. But sometimes the replacement of hardware
is unnecessary, and is a ploy to get you to spend more money. At
TPCD we encourage our customers to ask for someone else's
thoughts on the problem. If we're wrong, we don't charge
you*. When we're right (and we usually are), you're given
the opportunity to replace hardware yourself, buying from wherever
you prefer, after our diagnoses.
- Beware the "sales
trap" -
Computer repair shops that also sell computers have
a vested interest in getting you to buy new parts/accessories. At
TPCD our main focus is reliable, speedy service. No overhead
costs passed on to you, and no warehouses full of computer stuff
to get rid of.
* Our guarantee
excludes the cost of driving to the site.
